News from around Throop & Holdenhurst

Local democracy in action
A very well attended parish council meeting last night, followed by an open meeting to discuss issues around the proposed Hicks Farm SANG. Thank you to all who attended and made some extremely valid contributions. We'd also like to thank Martin Whitchurch and Katie Azulay from BCP Council for attending to speak to the meeting about the SANG developments. They have given their assurances of ongoing & open communication with the parish council. We will endeavour to get any questions answered. If you have any comments, complaints or queries please write to The Clerk: clerk@throopholdenhurst-pc.gov.uk You can also sign up for our digital newsletter https://www.throopholdenhurst-pc.gov.uk/newsletter/ where we will keep you informed about SANG & parish updates
Hicks Farm
Funds for development of Hicks Farm have been turned down! During the summer BCP applied for ‘seed corn’ funds from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to develop Hicks Farm as a ‘Demonstration Farm and Visitor Centre’ using the model set out in 2018. Throop and Holdenhurst Village Council (THVC) has recently been informed that this application has been turned down. To find out more about possible plans for the future of Hicks Farm THVC has invited Martin Whitchurch BCP’s Strategic Lead for Greenspace & Conservation/Environment to discuss its future at our Village meeting 23rd November 2022, 7pm Holdenhurst Village Hall. Put the date in your diary and come along to have your say!
War Memorial fund
The Parish Council was asked to investigate the installation of a permanent war memorial dedicated to the villagers of Throop who sacrificed their lives in conflict. Work has been progressing and a local stonemason has produced an illustration of how the memorial might look. The Village Council has been liaising with BCP Council regarding permissions etc. Some donations have been received but further fundraising is required before the project can proceed. If you would like to donate, BACs to Throop and Holdenhurst Village Council.
